Educated Guess to become TOP-Ed
By John Fensterwald - Educated Guess

The Educated Guess is about to grow.

Soon, when you click on this site, you’ll see that the blog has become part of a larger forum, with a name change to match. It’s a transformation that we at the Silicon Valley Education Foundation have been working on for months.

The main change is that there will be room for columns on education issues by other writers, some of whose names and writings you may recognize. There also will be pieces explaining some of the basics in California education (What exactly is Proposition 98? What’s the difference between AYP and API?)  and a section on facts about schools.

I’ll continue to write my blog, The Educated Guess and post video interviews, but the larger site will be known as TOP-Ed (Thoughts on Public Education) with a new url,  reflecting a bigger mission featuring many voices and perspectives on education issues vital to our state and our lives.

I’ll also be announcing prizes for the reader who submitted the 1,000th comment on the blog and for the most frequent contributor (followers of this page will know who that is – and so will she). So stay tuned …

Will likely save me some time, as I peruse several sites now!

  2. Great news. Perhaps instead of rewarding the most frequent “contributor” you might award the most thought-provoking. Perhaps as judged by a reader poll.

  3. Wow! I thought “the educated guess” was a pretty catchy name though. Not sure about the new name. Sounds a little Silicon Valley “acronym”-ish for my tastes!

"Darn, I wish I had read that over again before I hit send.” Don’t let this be your lament. To promote a civil dialogue, please be considerate, respectful and mindful of your tone. We encourage you to use your real name, but if you must use a nom de plume, stick with it. Anonymous postings will be removed.
