State Superintendent candidate Larry Aceves on teacher evaluations, NCLB, his priorities for the job

Larry, you hit some of the highlights, being in a campaign mode, I understand.  The question I would like to ask you is:  If elected as State Superintendent of Schools,  what plans do you have to change the California State Education code that will allow Districts to get rid of bad teachers?
     
    Yeah, I know all about the controversy regarding using test scores as part of the teacher evaluation, but you know and I know that you can go to literally any District in the State and find District Administrators who are pulling their hair out with their inability to “Cut the dead wood”,   meaning fire teachers who are inept, bitter, and ones that refuse to work with their administrations to better children’s educational opportunities. without years and years of effort and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent.  Good teacher’s see poor teachers left on the payroll and wonder why something isn’t done about it……..Taxpayers wonder too……..
