Ted Mitchell on the State Board of Education’s policy to encourage comprehensive teacher and principal evaluations

  1. This is worrisome, in that there is no mention of what incentives may be handed out to Districts that begin this process.

Additionally, this multiple component evaluation program needs to be developed jointly between local teacher associations and the district. It is necessary to have mutual responsibility, respect and results for the development and implementaion of a program such as this for it to be truly effective and meaningful. Will there be a component for student / parent evaluation of the parties involved? Will there be a component for certificated and classified evaluation of the administrators? Too many unknowns to jump on the bandwagon at this point, but I’d love to be invited to the table to discuss, develop and design this program.
